One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

My Frank Schwiemann Pyro  -  There was a 3/4 moon above the kite when I took this picture, but couldn't get the moon, kite and the contrail all in, it was awesome.

But there is an Ichiban on the way !!  The Iciban has arrived !!!  I think this is my new favorite.  Two weeks ago at Swift Current, the Iciban and two Pyros were all that could stay in the air when the wind quit.  Magnificent in the sky.  One line or two, Ken builds them right.

For me, the last one I built is usually my favorite.  But the last 2 I've built are just so darned cool that I'm not sure which to call my "favorite" because they both have such great merit.

First there's my Pely Variant, built from plans from KitePassion.  A *superb* and remarkable flyer, complex and unique looking.

Then there's my 10 point Double Star - plans by Ferruh Baysu.  Just downright unbelievable.

I've no idea how many were made but I'd love to get my hands on one  Cool

the kite you posted makes a buzz right ian?

i think i saw one at the '92 world cup in berkeley and have wanted one ever since but only seen cheap imitations. if my memory serves correct it's pretty big and the antennae wave along with the buzz which is constantly changing with the breeze.

super cool kite.

I don't have buzzing kites,  Sad wish I did. I wish I had the Japanese ones, they're cool kites.
As far as favorite SLK kite, obviously my Reprise. I'd like to get a Ichiban to go with the Reprise and stack the two. Now that would be very cool.  Grin

If we're having multiples, this is my other favourite, a Wadsworth spinner Roy Ashton made for me. Getting a bit fragile now but definitely treasured:

I was transfixed by one (which turned out to be Roy's own) at my 1st kite festival Cool

if my memory serves correct it's pretty big and the antennae wave along with the buzz which is constantly changing with the breeze.

More of a pleasing hum, yep its about as tall as me  Smiley

Low wind: Skate or maybe nano-photon
Medium winds: BASF = Bruce's Almost Square Fighter
High winds: Prism Spin Kite (a "UFO")

On a recent trip to Kauai, I packed only a few fighters and the Prism Spin Kite, all flat in my suitcase. I never got to a kite field, or even a big beach, but the Spin Kite was a hit, tied to the top of a sign behind the beach-front condo in the ~10 knot Trade Winds.
