One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

The wife has a conference in San Diego on these days.  We are staying at the Courtyard San Diego Mission Valley/Hotel Circle (595 Hotel Circle South San Diego, California 92108 USA)

She will be tied up all weekend.  I am joining her so I can fly in the area.

We will not have a rental car.  I figure I will learn the bus system or take a taxi.

I would love to meet someone or a group that flies in the area on Sat and the majority of Sunday.  Anyone want to show me around?

BTW...I am a hard-core flier and fly all day with little break.  Today I arrived at a local field before 9am and left at 4:30.

Anyone want to show me their favorite spot or just recommend where to go in the area?

The San Diego Kite Club meets the second Saturday each month at Tecolote Park on Mission Bay.  The winds are usually good in the afternoon.

You can google search "E Mission Bay Dr, San Diego, CA".  The green space west of I-5 from google map search is a great kiting place.  Typically thermal wind picks up in the afternoon through evening.  I am from Washington State but travel to San Diego often.  I have been visiting the park enough in the past years and I had a chance to know a few of the local flyers especially Mr. "T" who is almost there everyday.  Good luck and have a fun trip.  D
