Welcome to the GWTW Forum.
Guests (non-registered users) can view the forum but are unable to post.  If you don't have anything to say then why would you bother to register?
One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

To those that I haven't met yet here in Reno, but have had some interaction with on the forum, I hope you are well clear of the fire and remain safe.  My wife and I were evacuated yesterday, as we live near the corner of Skyline and McCarran.  We are however back in our house tonight... and even the power is back on.  While I love this hobby of kiting... flying and building, it's amazing what you can instantly disregard when you're being told to leave your home due to the high possibility of it burning to the ground.  A house approx 400 yards from ours has burned completely to the ground and the evidence of fire completely covers the street opposite of our neighborhood.

As I said, we are safe and I'm pleased that besides a large branch breaking off the tree in our front yard (due to 60 mph wind gusts; not good kiting weather) our house is unharmed.  For those that have not returned to their home or have lost everything, know that our thoughts are with you.

I'm glad to hear you and your wife are fine.
I wonder how Dan (Dano) and his family are doing?
I need to call him.  Sad

Glad to hear you and yours survived unscathed.

Dano lives in Sparks so hopefully he's not directly effected by this.

We live in Sparks, about 8 miles northeast of fire area.
All's good. Glad to hear you're back home safely, Stephen!

Crazy winds from yesterday have died down, Time to go fly now.  Grin
