One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

Well being the recipient of a kite bought on the forum a tracking number isn't vital for me, ecspecially if it's only coming from the states. If I were to post a kite on the forum I would think that somebody from the US would end up buying it. I would face the exact same things shipping south, it's just part of selling my kite. But who knows if there was more than just a handful of Canadians on this forum I might want to just ship locally too! Haha. For those people willing to go the extra mile and ship wherever I appreciate your time!

Customs form are done for me via USPS ship on line-i do not even have to sign them has a great tool (as does Fedex and UPS too) the "shipping quote" can get a real good idea of what it is going to cost....i also strongly push opening up USPS&UPS&Fedex accounts, even if you are shipping one thing a year, it can get you %ed shipping costs

Thanks for the tips on USPS  online.  Will give it a look.

USPS will tell you when it is delivered, but not during the movement in the other country...

If shipping with USPS - once it crosses the border, track it using same tracking # at the Canadapost website.

I have received 6-7 items shipped to Canada. Steve ships to me no problem. Ken McNeill and several other retailers, no problem. And I have bought kites privately. Again, no issues.

There is an added cost and I pay it. The seller and I agree on the amount in advance. Sometimes the seller goes to the post office, mails the package and then e-mails me the amount I owe. I hit PayPal with the payment. That involves some trust on the seller's part but kite fliers are friends. Some are just friends I haven't met in person, yet.

USPS Priority Mail is trackable. From the Canada Post website, I can see when it was entered into the USPS system, when it was delivered to USPS, its route to the Canadian port of entry, I can see exactly how long the item waits for customs clearance and when it is on the truck for delivery.

For small items, insurance is not an issue. For large items that are insured, I want the customs and insurance forms to agree. I am going to pay tax (not duty - kites are exempt as toys). That is figured into my estimate of what I am spending for the item. If Canadian Customs (CBSA) decides you are trying to game the system, your name goes into the system FOREVER. The sheer volume of stuff that crosses their desks everyday means you will probably get away with it. But if you hit the jackpot..... Just remember all those little computer screens the CBSA agents look at everytime you cross the border.

Shipping from the US to Canada is not a problem.
