One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

I prefer the Mamba it pulls a little more, spins a little tighter, feels a bit more lively.
Either way both are nice kites and amongst the best in the world for construction

I agree with Ian's assessment for flight quality, but the other big difference is trickability. The Mamba has a much more accessible bag of tricks. Phantom is a great design, but it was created long before most tricks were invented and although it has been modded some over the years, it's still very much an old school kite. I'd love to have a current Phantom, but the Mamba is a more versatile kite.

Phantom Elite... I love it  Grin

But I also love my Mamba.  As Allen says, the Mamba is more in tune with modern tricks than the Phantom.  My Mamba has been upgraded to Black Mamba specs (standoff positions) which brings it even more into modern flying.  Both kites are large by modern standards and start to pull hard as the wind speed rises.  The Phantom copes with the gusts a bit easier.

I can't imagine myself getting rid of either kite, but if I was looking to buy only one I'd get the Mamba... first.
