One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

At the movies, while watching a preview for the new Tom Hanks movie, there is an arial shot of someone flying a Red/Black/Yellow CdC Shiva. Anyone else see that? The same clip, only shorter, is showing on TV now.

Well, at least it's historically accurate. That was a hot kite on the east coast 10 years ago. Looks like he's supposed to be flying it as a single line. Movie magic

It's NJ flier Kurtis Jones.  He was hired for the part, and I believe the footage you saw was shot several months ago.  He had Matt Epstein working as "kite wrangler" on the other end of the lines.  Maybe Kurtis will pop up here to give a full account, from what he said it was very challenging conditions and almost no wind.

I believe they were wearing SkyDogz shirts to accompany the CdC kites.

Good to see anyway that it didn't all end up on the cutting room floor.

Seems there was a time when news that a forum member was hired by a major motion picture to fly a sport kite on-screen would have gotten some notice around here.  Times have changed  Sad

Does it really matter?

A forum member was paid to play a part in a major motion picture, small role though it may have been .  Who cares what kite he was flying?  You'd think some one would care, comment...notice.  Or do people think that kite fliers are given opportunities like that all the time?

i know that i have not been given that opportunity.....
I saw Ralph Reed post the trailer on nekite and it went over like a dud...no one commented at all about it....sad.....
I am very happy for Matt and Mistah Jones!

People are sadly more inclined to jump down each others throat for which kite does a trick better than anything else hopefully they are also giving quiet praise people who get kites out into the world...

Any kite time in front of the public is good publicity. Good for Kurtis!
