Welcome to the GWTW Forum.
Guests (non-registered users) can view the forum but are unable to post.  If you don't have anything to say then why would you bother to register?
One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

I have noticed most people don't enter a location in their profile

When answering questions or making contact, it would be nice to know where you are.

What reasons do you have for not wanting us to know where you live?

Oh man, I've been wanting to bring this up for the longest time! I LOVE to know where people are from. I don't need to know their address, but it would be awesome to at least know what state they're in (if in the US). Including a city is great, too, but if that feels like too much give-away, people could generalize:  "Midwest, USA," "Deep South, USA," "New South Wales, Australia," "Hop-Skip-and-Jump from the Tower of London, UK," etc. etc.

Thanks to the OP for posting!

Yes, you are absolutely correct! My short list was intended only as a sampling of locations. I didn't want to leave anyone out, but I could have spent days researching and making lists of locations around the globe. Heck, it might have been a fun project, though, eh?
