Can someone who has experience of red climax protec and skybond care to comment on the differences please?

I think there is a big difference between the red and yellow climax lines .... red protec is much better than the professional line,

Thanks Harv

I haven't used the red Protec, but I've used the yellow professional for 3 years - I have 2 sets. Even my oldest set, while starting to look well used, is still in good shape. 20 + wraps, hardly ever had to adjust lengths- virtually zero stretch only ever had 1 breakage ( on the newer set) the other week in spite of using it in all but the highest winds ( it broke at the sleeving loop) I really like it. If the red protec is even better it must be pretty amazing stuff. I see Tim Benson likes it.

I have a set of red Protec I've never even used. Got it from Tim Benson, like you said. Making me want to cut it down to 50 feet and give it a try.

We don't get protect here in the states so your not going to find anyone to do a real side by side comparison unless you want to send me a set to try Tongue.  Protec is a europe brand.

Or you could send me some USA line !  Tongue back at ya !

Is there much difference between Shanti speed and Skybond? Is skybond just more slippy?

Skybond is thinner and slicker than Warp Speed line.  I think that Warp Speed will wear longer, because it is a slightly thicker line than the Skybond, but the slickness is totally worth it.  Both are 100% spectra braid.

I'm pretty sure SkyBond is polyethylene, not Spectra.

Isn't Spectra made from Polyethylene?

Skybond is HMF Polyethylene - aka...Spectra. Smiley  The same that LPG, Warp Speed and all other kite lines are made from.  The difference is that Skybond is Polymer bonded, which is an ultra thin polymer coating that is baked into the HMFP spectra fibers before braiding to give it superior slickness.
