Welcome to the GWTW Forum.
Guests (non-registered users) can view the forum but are unable to post.  If you don't have anything to say then why would you bother to register?
One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

When returning from vacation to find Ken has stopped making kites is more of a shock than returning from vacation to find a member of the Royal Family has died.

How about when you've read the forum 3-4 times per day for 1,000 days without missing a single day?
(I'm not THAT addicted - I usually take Sundays off).

no, really that doesn't count.  it's not an obsession if you're just looking  5 times a day but not posting.  really.  you're just checking to make sure there's nothing new from Steve or a swap meet you can't live without.  that's only reasonable.

When you get a kite injury...

... such as a hamstring injury on the calf for walking backwards on uneven terrain while trying to do an axel.

When you drive 200 miles to a kite festival when you know before hand that it is going to rain and thunder all day Saturday and deal with 25-30 mph winds on Sunday.... and still had a great time!  Roll Eyes

Amen to all the posts before, particularly the cost exceeding the value of the cars you drive, but to  me you know you are a kite flyer when the number of days in the year are not enough to fly every one of the kites  you love and that you get more pleasure flying said kites with kiting friends than anything else in the  known world or any parallel universe. (good single malt could run a close second though.)

When you lawn dart your new Skate into the grass/mud/goosedung of Kite Hill with TPatterson and son watching.  As all three of us are inspecting the kite, Eli says the garbage can is over there and you fold the shattered limbs and then deposit the kite into it.  Cry

This never happened but in my dream (nightmare?) this morning.  I've been hoping to score a Skate, but maybe I shouldn't  Undecided

When you bring up ebay and all of the recommendations are sewing machines and kites.

I have to add an addendum to my original post.

I know I am a kite flyer, because I just wore out a kite. Sadly I am going to decommission it this weekend.  Cry

What is the proper burial procedure for a kite? Steve wanted to give his favorite Pyro a proper Viking funeral, but I don't think anybody ever came up with an idea for a time delayed fuse. Now things are getting to dry again to safely send a kite out in a blaze of glory.
