I've never flown one but I've always thought it was a nice design. Does it fly well as a diamond with the tail? Being able to remove the tail and play with it as a fighter is a bonus, I wouldn't expect that design to be too radically quick as a fighter so it should be a good introduction to that type of flying. And learning some fighter skills opens the door to the new no wind SLK's that have become so popular. I think it's a great choice and expect you'll enjoy it.
When you're looking to step up the soon to be released
Prism Switch might be a logical choice. It will also fly as a single line kite like your current model
and does double duty as an introduction to dual line flying without breaking the bank.

Zero G will fullfill you needs for a low wind / no wind kite. I've yet to see one in person but I'm wondering if by adding a tail it might transition into a low wind SLK too that you could stake out and have a picnic.
It really is a good time to be a beginning kite flyer, these 3 models open the door to 4 different aspects of kiting without breaking the bank and if you progress on up they'll stay in your bag for years to just put a little color in the sky while flying other kites or for a casual day in the park or on the beach.
