Welcome to the GWTW Forum.
Guests (non-registered users) can view the forum but are unable to post.  If you don't have anything to say then why would you bother to register?
One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

Any of those golf courses should make an ideal flying spot, I don't think the golfers would mind working around a lone kiteflier  Cheesy

There's La Quinta Park in La Quinta (Adams north of Hwy 111) - across the street from the High School.

The Palm Desert Soccer Park also has plenty of room, if it's not being used by the soccerites.

Then the Southwest Community Church (corner of 44th and Washington in Palm Desert/Indian Wells) has a large empty field next to it.  When I lived out there (4 yrs. ago), I was told by someone on staff that kite flying there was ok.  Don't know if the rules have changed, but if the sprinkler's don't come on, that's the best place I found.

Or you could come over the mountain to Hemet where I could show you my favorite fields.

Then there's kitemap. (org? com?)
