One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

Thanks!

I only hope that when it arrives the wind around here calms down a little.
Today I went flying my Soul and could barely control it under constant winds of 15mph with some gusts going up to 20 or 22mph...

I think I should have asked for a vented not a UL!   Sad

Well, wind, as life, is not perfect.  Wink

As a newbie myself (wondering how long I can claim that status?), I am beginning to realize that this kite-thing is a lot like clothes shopping. I finally decide to fork over the dollars for that great winter sweater _while it's still winter_ but by the time I get to the store, they've got the swimsuits in stock. With kites, a lot of money is involved, so it takes awhile to make the decision to buy. You get the kite and the winds you are buying it for are long gone when the kite gets here. The good news is that they really do come back.

So, standard, UL/SUL, vented. You'll eventually get all of them. Will you be happy to stay with that set for the rest of your days? Not hardly! Less-is-More isn't always a good thing. More-is-More to my way of thinking.

Great analogy   Smiley

But, indeed, winds come and go and if you have the whole range you can choose.

Sooooooo... which could be my next kite once the Talon UL arrives?   Wink

Just kidding, I not a kite freak...   Smiley

Which kite? Well, I've been in the thinking stages of getting a UL for a long time now. I got the standard Mamba, because I was aware that it had a darned good light wind side of it.... and it turned out to be true. Man, that thing does great at the lower wind ranges, but a local flyer has a new UL WidowMaker that will fly when my Mamba won't.

Since there is no chance for getting another Mamba, let alone an UL one, I've been looking even harder at that WM. Oh man, I flew it last night-- more than I had before. I *want* one. Bad. That thing tracks like crazy and flew in pretty hard/turbulent winds earlier in the day AND next-to-nothing wind just before sunset. Stayed up there, too, without the usual arm-pumping I have to do with the Mamba. The really nice thing is that it feels much like my Mamba does-- inputs feel a lot alike, unlike the difference between my Mamba and Hypnotist.

So, the WidowMaker UL is what I'll be saving my pennies for next. I'm in love, so right now that's what I think everyone should get. lol
