Prism 3d question.

One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.

Does the spine of the 3d lay flat aginst the back of the sail or is it bowed forward or backward ?? I called prism for the length of the spine and it measures correctly @ 21 7/8 but with the caps it does not seem to "FIT".

Should be flat.  Is it possible there is an obstruction in the nose that is keeping the spine from inserting fully?  Failing that why not just trim a bit off?  Quite sure it won't affect the flight characteristics.  Well, unless you cut off too much

Cutting was where I was headded with it. I just wanted to ask the all knowing WWW to see if any one else was smarter than me. I can see cloth in the upper part where all pieces come together but they are sewn in place (could not pull them out with hemostats). Looks like I am going to town with my dremel tool later .

I ran into this at first, but there are actually multiple layers there, and it was really a matter of finding the one that wasn't sewn closed, which allowed the spine to lay flat.

Putting the leading edges in was a complete pain, though.  I can't fathom how anyone puts together a whole series of those without damaging their thumbs/hands/sanity...

Mitchell, Jared make a good point.  There are several layers of material in the nose.  Could be you aren't finding the gap that it goes in.
