I've been having fun lately doing different kiting related projects and one of the challenges I took on was a set of custom skyburner Banners for Bobby. The skyburner logo wasn't that hard to do but getting the skyshark logo to come out right was the real challenge. Anyone that has done or attempted applique work should know that fine lines and small details are the biggest pain to do and get to come out clean. Especially when those lines and details aren't tied together and require a separate applique. To keep the overall design right when doing multi layer/ multi element applique isn't easy.
Here's how they came out. They aren't curved, I had to use 3/4 pvc pipe for the pics since I couldn't find my banner polls and I had 12+ winds that day.

And the skyshark logo as I was preping it. One technique I use to keep everything where it should be was leaving bits of cloth to hold everything in line and trim those out once it was sewn to create the gaps where they should be, effectively making a 5 layer/element applique into a single layer. I had to leave out some of the lighting highlights though since doing color fades is nigh impossible without custom dying or printing the fabric.
