Welcome to the GWTW Forum.
Guests (non-registered users) can view the forum but are unable to post.  If you don't have anything to say then why would you bother to register?
One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

Do I have to have webshots to post pictures on the forum?
Also, how do I put a picture up for my avatar?

Thanks,

Bob M.

For an avatar, click Profile in the forum menu bar then click "Forum Profile Information" where you can link our upload your own avatar.

If you want to post a photo, in the post a reply view, click "Additional Options" and browse for the photo you wish to link. I prefer Webshots as that is where I store most of my kite shots.

What Randy said.

The new ability to post photo's directly to the Forum is great though, the only drawbacks are that the photo will be under your post, you can't put the picture between lines, and there is a size limit on the upload due to bandwidth restrictions so you can't directly upload a 10 megapixel pic. You'll have to resize it. I don't recall the size limit Steve set, I just resize to 480 wide or smaller .jpg and have had no problems.

I sure like not having to upload to a photo sharing site, then getting the URL & playing with Image and URL tags since those sites do require you to hot link the photo back to the site and Steve doesn't have instructions on how to do that so your on your own (not hard just fiddly)
