webshots images keep coming up on my desktop.

Guests (non-registered users) can view the forum but are unable to post.  If you don't have anything to say then why would you bother to register?
One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

   Even though i am using the desktop properties and setting it as blue background everytime i start my machine it reverts back to a slideshow of webshots desktop photos.There has to be a way to trun webshots off so it doesnt do this.Any help here?

I use webshots only as a store, and don't use their desktop or software. Did you try their FAQ/Help, John?

in the last 2 months or so webshots has gone way over the line for an acceptable level of advertising on their website, it's insipid.

sorry guys but those of you who post pics on webshots, no longer will i visit their site to view your photoss. 


as for fixing your problem, have you tried going to START > All Programs > Startup  then clearing out anything in that menu related to webshots?

if that doesn't help you can go START > Run, then type in MSCONFIG then hit enter, when the box pops up move over to the startup tab and uncheck anything in there which looks like webshots.

that is, if you're on windows. if you're on mac, maybe a "mac genius" could help.

Or better yet

Start > Control Panel > Add, Remove Programs > & remove anything to do with Webshots

I've been anti Webshots for years, while on dial-up you couldn't view anything there unless you had a day or two off to let it load, even with a 1.5 mbs connection you need an inordinate amount of time. When a website clicks 4-5 times to load stuff from off site before it will load the content you came for it's obvious they are less interested in providing a service to their customers then they are in advertising dollars.
