So, I am planning to build Christian Derefat Vortex, but I wasn't a big fan of the panel layout.
I imported the vectors into InkScape, a free/open source illustration program (for those of you that didn't know). I removed the panels and migrated objects onto different layers. The sail is just an outline now, ready for me to draw panels at will in InkScape.
Because I can't be the only one who is interested in doing this, I figured it might be nice to make the SVG file available to anyone who wants it.
Here's a link:
https://docs.google.com/open?id=0ByqX3sN1GD_PVTRPbjlNUjVpc2MThe link points to a file that is available to anyone with the link. You can get a copy of Inkscape from
http://www.inkscape.orgI left in the fabric grain markings from the original pattern so you can use them as a guide for your own panels.
The page size is now 54 inches by 36 inches, so plotting will require a 36" wide plotter, but in the USA that's a pretty common size.
Enjoy!
