One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

Loved the video, especially the sequences where the camera was behind you. Inspirational flying! I only wish Vimeo would install a slow-motion playback button! Tongue

What were the winds like that day and how long were your flying lines?

In the Vimeo caption you wrote, "Kite designed by Davide Equizzi and built for me by Stephen Sugarbaker." What else can you tell us about it, e.g., dimensions, weight, materials, flying characteristics? From the description, you had it custom-made. What were you trying to achieve and was it successful?

Thanks, Ken

Thanks Ken!

About the Sixth Sense:
It is designed by Davide Equizzi (Italian) as an open source kite (like his Invictus), but as you can see in the link from thief: Sugarbaker an I swapped kites.

In the movie I used 30m-lines (55kg) and the winds were between 2 and 3 Beaufort.

It is a big kite, 240cm, the frame is all Black Diamond Nitro (Strong).

Some things about the Sixth Sense:
 - Flies slow, even in stronger winds
 - Flies very constant, even in bumby winds
 - Good corners, without a wooble afterwards
 - Easy, slow Jacobsladders
 - Stable on his back, Lifters possible, nice Two-pops-Yoyo's
 - Backspins could be flatter
 - Slotmachines are nice (not in my movie, indeed), slow again
 - Nice Tazmchines, you can combine them with Halfaxels and Slotmchines (but not as easy as with a TNT or Veyron)
 - Wapdoowaps nice
 - Yoyo's not too fast (but certainly not as slow as a Veyron), very controllable

Well that is quite a nice kite and fantastic flying...
I am considering getting one from sugarbaker in the fall...

Thanks for providing the wind information.

Thanks Thief (link to kite build history) and Krijn (flying characteristics). I am not trained on the metric system or Beaufort scale (getting there...), so I had to look them up:
  • Line length = 100' (approx)
  • Kite wingspan = 94"
  • Winds between 4-12 MPH

I hope you will keep making and posting videos like that one! Smiley

Pardon my newbieness! Embarrassed  I had no idea that you had been so prolific with kite videos. I appreciate the link. It shall keep me busy for quite a while... Wink

I did find a "Talons in Norway" video and am about 1/2 way through it. It is nice - lots of cool scenery and terrific kite flying.

Thanks Krijn. I love your VF16 entry. Absolutely gorgeous. Gods country, but the rocky ground makes me cringe. I love the Talons. One of the best looking, most versatile sail desings ever.
