Flying on the beach and a guy up the beach saw the 6' bowl another guy was flying near me. He goes to a local shop, they sold him a six foot delta and a six foot bowl and some 175# line. I dont think the delta would lift it and I question the line weight when the wind is 15-20mph.
Is my thinking out of line?
Okay..my question is:
When you say "Lift" what are you referring to?
Most of the time a bol would not actually be lifted into the air....they are
usually bouncing around on the ground.
If you are meaning that that having the bridle line being pointed a bit more upwards then that delta is just fine....
granted if the bol starts bouncing around and rolling a lot it will most likely pull the kite out of the sky...
not a totally wise choice if you ask me...
without talking to the customer directly and the salesman I would hesitate to say that the shop did anything "wrong".....i have had customers listen to me saying "that will not work the way you want it to" but still buy the things to do what
they want it to....and if it does not work it does not work....
That could be completely the case here...they might not have wanted to splurge for a heavier test line, bigger kite, etc.....
One of the most fun things i did was take a Greens of Burnley 6' bol (also referred to as a basket sometimes as well
http://www.gombergkites.com/e-bounce.html#basket ) and attach it to a 500# anchor line....that was 250' long....(I had a big area to play in my myself then)......it was a blast....rolling across the window then suddenly popping up about 70' or so....rolling back across the wind window and then slamming itself straight down to the ground where it would collapse itself reinflate and start rolling again....it was tethered off to a fence post and dang i wish i had a video of it....
