I took the Solus std out yesterday at Comp in Coldwater Michigan... Did a Frenchie in comp.  Was nice to pull it off.  I used 120 foot lines first time this year ...  I also flew the my Solus for the first time in months.  Had to put Wind Flaps on her it was SSSSSssssssoooooooooo windy.  Then in one minute 3 mph ... Extremely lousy wind conditions.  Embarrassed Embarrassed Embarrassed Embarrassed Embarrassed  But with the flaps on and all .. I pulled it off in Comp.

This was today.. Beach was PACKED..( Sunday)..  I used a back up spot.  But wind hit wrong way.  Trees and small hills suck when the wind is wrong direction here.  Heavy then two the left ..the trees block the wind... small hills on the left do a number on wind also ...

But it's worth watching ...  Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool Cool

Solus takes me there...

Four on the floor

Norm's eyes bulged out  Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh Huh as he spotted a new video posted by vertigo2u. Could this be the four AVFFF's?? Next, I see him holding a pair of ratty looking (Made in China and probably Premier) flight straps dangling down looking more like a pair of Chinese sausage rather than Custom 3-finger "special edition" Viet Nam vet pair. The Viet Nam pair must have gone MIA. (no pun intended) To think I had believed it was all about the 'feel' on his "pinky" finger. Next I spot a Custom Skyburner Solus (Made in the USA) all wrinkled, dusty,  and looking unflown for months. Sorry Detroit Joey.........nice try, even added a camera crew..........nice touch.  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy The best score I could give you is 3.5. After your fourth roll-up you did not get back into the fade position, but experienced a rather controlled crash of sort. Like I previously told you; the first two are easy, it's the second two that kicks your a$$. You got so friggin excited just thinking about winning them Custom cheesy finger straps you blew it.  Sorry no straps for you based on the performance in this video. However, enjoy your one-of-a-kind "special" Custom Viet Nam Vet straps, because you earned them, but it's looking more and more like they might be the last ones for you. I will say the Solus might be the kite that takes you the distance. Line control is the key on them 4-knot line-equalizers. Oh, that's right you weren't using them. What was all the hollering and commotion about at the end of the video? Was someone about to step on your Chinese Sausage straps?

Hey hey.. those new premier straps are actually pretty nice. In all seriousness. I have a set of yours, and a lot of the new premier ones. Joe, take the equalizers off the red and black straps Jon has at the shop, and put them on the premier straps. I have about 8 or 9 sets of those, and they work great.

Also.... I was so confused for a second to see you with a "UL"," then I realized that my UL colors are you standard. Womp.

Keep plugging away. When I come home with chris in a few weeks, if you dont have the trick down, we'll get there early on wednesday night, I'll film, and give some input. Internet input doesn't really do a whole lot of help, haha. I'll bring over the Solus and the WMs so we have the same kites to learn on.

I just got back from the Beach.  Wind was a bit on the high side but not like yesterday... I am now editing video.  I am sure the next post should clear up some of the incidentals carried on by the both of you.
I got too excited near the end on the four.  I was rapidly losing air as I dropped down.  But maybe all of that is cleared up.  I also did a complete four but no viodeo yesterday.

No tripod yesterday...

Got editing to do. Why don't the two of you "... just go fly a kite...".  Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy Cheesy

I luv the Straps ... They fit perfectly in my hands ....  Kiss Kiss Kiss Kiss

Internet input doesn't really do a whole lot of help, haha.
If it weren't for the Internet, GWTW forum members, and especially the tutorials made by Randy G. & Mama74 I couldn't do a trick.  Tongue  Hopefully these tutorial videos were helpful to 'Detroit Joey' also.  Grin

Internet input doesn't really do a whole lot of help, haha.
You can lead a horse to water, but he doesn't always walk away in a FADE.

As always I appreciate input.   Wink
Your fade launches are looking real good and were good enough to do something with.
Try a lateral roll-out and then roll-up. Or try a French roll-up/Flic-Flak. Maybe even a Jacobs Ladder or Backspin as they are all available from the all so important Fade position. Go back and watch RandyG's tutorials for Jacobs Ladder, Flic-Flak, Backspin. Fade-Fade-Fade-Fade-Fade-Fade-Fade-Fade-Fade-Fade-Fade-Fade-Fade. Did I mention Fade? Challenge yourself and see if you can do as many FADES in a practice session as you have done 540's. Cheesy
Oh ya and remember practice-practice-practice..........the FADE.  Huh To do any of the tricks you have to have slack in your lines or nothing is going to happen. What's going on Joe? You live back there with some of the best fliers on the planet. Now my challenge to you. Show me some Fades and do something with them. Will any of my "Crapo" videos help you?

Those straps represent four things:

1.) I can do a nice controlled Fade

2.) I can do a Flic Flac

3.) I can do a French Flci Flac (American & French versions )

4.) I can do a least one rung or more of Jacob's Ladder

When I put those Finger Straps on ... I'll get to feel The Nirvana of learning new tricks.

That is one of the Best Feelings ... It was great sharing them with you.  Your critic is always appreciated and so important.  I can take it ...  Cry Cry
Joe, now that you have a pair of finger straps maybe you should move away from the AVFFF's and try some Flic Flac's or a few JL's for a change of pace. Mix it up and then return to the AVFFF's.

How about a pic of the new grip?
Kirb

I've been curious to know about  this new grip you are using.  Can you explain?

What's with the new grip.....show me.....pics.......inquiring minds want to know???
Now all these curious fliers that were seeking help get to see your new grip.

First I have to do 1000 .... Probably 5 more hours of doing FFF's then I am going to try Jacob's Ladder.
