Hello Everyone,
As many of you know I usually ship more kite boxes then regular kiters do. I own Kite Classifieds, and I have noticed a VERY disturbing trend going on with the Post Office. I ship tons of those 38 inch long triangular shipping boxes the Post Office gives you for free. I kept noticing that every time I went to this one certain Postal clerk that he was charging me much more then the other clerks. I said something about it and he just blew it off as I didn't know what I was talking about.
So this week when I went in with a large arm full of those boxes I got stuck with this clown yet again. This time I had enough of his attitude and being over charged, so I challenged the price quote he gave me for mailing a triangular box. He blew up and walked off and refused to finish shipping my box. LONG story made REALLY short is I was correct and I proved this clerk wrong in front of the post master and his co workers. He had tried to charge me $27.60 to ship the box. When he walked off and the post master came out to see what the problem was he had another clerk give me their quote. Guess WHAT??? The 1st clerk had over charged me $10.00 for the very same box. The3 clerk was given time off for his mouth and attitude towards me for proving him wrong.
The main reason for the 2 different price quotes is the way the 2 different clerks entered the box into their computer. The 1st clerk entering the box as a "ODD SHAPED" box. While the 2nd clerk was using the bar code on the side of the shipping box. It made a roughly 10 dollar difference in the cost of shipping the very same box. So the next time you go to ship a triangular box at the post office take a minute to watch and double check how the clerk enters stuff into their computer. If they don't scan the bar code on the side of the box PLEASE ask them to do so. You might be surprised at the price difference.
Take Care
