Kidnappin this post....
but here in the photos below is a vintage shot of the custom Goodwind FLASHLIGHT that I used for choro at Longbeach 1994 that was given to me by Todd and Kathy the morning of the event.
These custom made Goodwind Flashlights used # Tri-wrapped Skyshark #12 tapered main spars with Golden skinnies for the leading edges. (The sail material was that beloved "ICY'REX:)
Because of this...this little light weight SUL could handle the slightest breeze up to about 15 or so...without too much trouble.
(Too many competition kiters seem to switch back n' forth between kites....never giving their brains enough time to train their muscle memory) Sticking with a wide range kite can really be an advantage for most mere mortals?
'Another modification was to deepen the sail with shorter spreaders with longer standoffs.
Sadly this kite was STOLEN out of my car at Longbeach a few weeks later...
For years afterward...Kathy, Todd, my kite buds and I... kept n' eye out for that kite to show up in the air or somewhere at the beach.
It had Kathy and Todd signatures on this kite...GADS! I STILL FEEL SO SHABBY by forgetting to make sure my car door was locked at the motel.
Lessons sadly learned....SO MANY OF US tend leave so much kite crap unattended in unlocked cars or sittin around the staging areas at kite events...where opportunities are soooo tempting for those with "sticky-finga's!"
I still feel strongly...that kiters are some of the most honest and caring folks and history has proven....that most stolen-kite stuff is NOT BY KITERS but simply by wandering spectators or folks that just want to turn a fast buck at a pawn shop somewhere?
These photos were taken waaaay back in 1994 when we lived in Auburn. I would bet this kite is no longer existance except in my memories of those great kites and daze days gone bye.
GADS! These photos make me feel OLD? Uhhh...I AM OLD!
