One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

I re-framed my Sea Devil Mid-Vent as a Vented Light, and really like the results.
To much fun!!   Grin

Andy,

Did you swap the 5pt LEs for 3pt?

I recently flew a Fearless SUL with 2pt upper leading edges and 3pt lower - damn, it was a fine combination.  Gives a little more rotational mass for backspin and backspin cascades.

Aren't you glad you didn't sell that SD mid vent ? Eager to hear more about the Sea Devil VL. I've been enjoying my Sea Devil light this summer, and just got a SD SUL. Now I have to look at the vents...

ITom

Yes; I replaced the leading edges and lower spreaders with 3PTs. I also cut down the internal weight to match my Light and reduced the external weight.... and while I was at it I replaced the leading edge connectors with Lam's new SSD connectors... love it...

I have only flown it twice and this is just a guess, but it seems to fly well in 3-4 MPH... it would not hold a fade at that speed, but it would fade and slowly sink...

All good kites require a courtship. The Mid-Vent and I went round-and-round for half a decade. I just never flew dual lines in the wind speeds it is built for.  Give it a chance the way it is….

Next time we fly bring it along. We can try it back to back with the FVL.
