Welcome to the GWTW Forum.

One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

Good After Noon Everyone!

Semi Newbie here, at least to delta kites.

Went flying today and noticed that I have lost a nock for one of the minor spars on my kite.

Can you guys recommend a good kite part supply house for online purchases?

My local kite store is almost a hundred miles away and his web site does not have parts and peices.

I figure i should get some spare nocks, spars, and I also am looking for a spare ferrule for my flexifoil as well.   Also, do you guys  recommend a dab of glue on the nocks to prevent loss?

My appreciation in advance!

Regards,
Cranky

How about the shop that sponsors this Forum?

http://www.chicokites.com/store/

Steve is the best to work with and for a nock he'll usually post it in an envelope rather then a $5.50 box.

Def put a spot of a superglue type adhesive into the nock when you put it on the rod....you might want to do this when the rod is NOT in the kite as you might accidentally glue the rod to the skin of the kite if the glue dribbles down the rod... (done that!)

The super glue-ish stuff that I recommend is Zap a Gap http://www.chicokites.com/store/index.php?act=viewProd&productId=103 The best part about the stuff is that it is a gap filling material...as opposed to other types of cryano acralates that are thinner this stuff is tichk and can fill in the space between a ferrule and rod, or red and nock very nicely to form a stronger bond.

Here at Chico kites you have a few choices for nocks: http://www.chicokites.com/store/index.php?act=viewCat&catId=30
You also have some rod choices: http://www.chicokites.com/store/index.php?act=viewCat&catId=18 (try to match as closely as you can to the original rods!)

The flexi ferrule is a bit more specific...google it and you should be able to find some dealers who have them on hand..

While I don't fly flexies much any more . I never broke a ferrule ever. On either of my ten foots or on my eight stack of 6 foots or my 16 stack of 4 foots. I broke rods and had to pull rod ends from ferrule but never even bent a ferrule.
