Looking for Diamond pattern kite bag/sleeve material!

One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.

Can anyone tell me where I can buy a few yards of this Diamond Pattern material for kite bag/sleeves?




I had a few made by Shelly Chapman (Shawn's wife for those old-timers that remember them) about 3 years ago but I have not been able to get a response from her about making a few more ....or selling me some of the material. Maybe I have an email that she no longer uses. Has anyone talked to or heard from her recently?

I've also sent 'AKA_MrBill' an email asking him about obtaining some as well, after reading this old thread from a year ago http://www.gwtwforum.com/index.php?topic=6449.15 where he mentions purchasing a couple yards of it in his reply #28!

I'm interested! I don't have any kite bags in that color at the moment! I like to have different colors to help make it easy to find the kite I'm looking for! Can you email me with some details?

Thanks Tom! I appreciate the info! I really like that material for my kite sleeves. I already have several kites in them. This is the first time I've heard of any fabric vendor carrying it for the retail to non-manufacturers! I went to their site. Looks like they have a lot of color options!

I've only been there a few times, but was impressed with what they had for sure.   Sugarbaker was kind enough to make me some bags for my kites with this fabric - it looks sharp for sure!

TNT also came with a white one made of this stuff - very very sharp for sure.  It also wears like iron.

I bet that white one does look sharp! Paul Shirey used to make them in gold for all his custom made kites! Good looking & finely crafted kites need a sharp looking kite sleeve & none look any better than the ones made with this fine material, IMO!

It is a little bit different, mine is anthrazit but I have seen the white ones too. These are all unlabeled Level One bags btw.

The diamond pattern looks even better imho, but sadly it's like Unobtainium in europe.

Thanks for all the replies and feed-back on the kite sleeve material. I was able to contact someone to have a couple sleeves made for now ...with additional avenues to pursue in the future! I appreciate the help.
