Great shots... I've been quickly shut down by the police & officials when I try to get a KAP kite in the air around town to take shots like this. I guess there's something threatening about a large kite with something hanging from it. They actually suggested that I could be a terrorist... threatened to 'cut my kite free' (the town official took out his knife and waved it around).
Interesting, and very disappointing, Rob
One of the photos entered in the AKA KAP contest in Enid was "Above the Ben Franklin Parkway, Philadelphia" by Jim Powers. Another was of the Sheep Meadow in Central Park (NYC) by Sebastian Kaliszewski. I chatted with Jim about his, and apparently he had the kite up in downtown Philly for quite a while, with no reported hassle from the authorities.
Unfortunately, the issue of Kiting that these photos are in is not yet online, and you'd have to be an AKA member anyway to get to it when it is, until it's more than five years old.
