Welcome to the GWTW Forum.

One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

I'm a grad student at UMass Amherst and I'm looking for other kite flyers out there. I'm a relative newbie, having flown a two-line diamond a looong time ago and having logged about 3-4 hours flying a (much nicer) little two-line delta, a Premier Vision. I'm also looking for good flying fields in the area, so even if you're not local, if you know a good one, give a shout!

Hey there...

I went to Zoo Mass in the 80's. There should be alot of space to fly up there...
There's a guy on the Prism forum that lives in Northampton, and was looking for someone to fly with. I think he goes under the name 'Raptor'.
If you ever find yourself on Long Island, I could show you some places to fly down here.

I wasn't a kite flier when I lived in Amherst 18 years ago, but I have to imagine the winds in the Valley are pretty challenging no matter where you go.  Maybe someplace along the river...

Definitely plenty of space, and all of it that I've tried has bumpy, ugly wind. That's *probably* not going to change, since I'm in a valley, and a heavily wooded one at that.

I think most of the space along the river is filled with farms, but I'll have to look and see if there are any fields suited for flying. Maybe there's one lying fallow that would be appropriate, or perhaps there's a park somewhere.
