One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

I live in Minnesota where winters are way too long and cold. So every year between mid-January to mid-February my wife and I vacation somewhere warm for a few weeks. We recently returned from 10 days in southern Florida where for the first time (I started flying stunt kites a year and a half ago) I flew in straight clean ocean winds (Bowman’s Beach, Sanibel Island, Fort Myers area). Wow for Lab Grade winds. Jaw-droppingly fun and highly educational.
So a question: Where are the best kite-flying vacation spots? I’m hoping for:

1.   Mostly sunny and 65-75 degrees or warmer in mid-January to mid-February.
2.   Smooth steady winds and enough space to fly in various wind directions.
3.   Reasonable rates for decent (not fancy) accommodations. A place with a kitchen would be nice.

It doesn’t need to be an ocean beach but that’d be a plus.

I missed the recent Treasure Island event by a week because I heard about it too late. And Norm’s recent pix of Morro Bay looks very inviting.

Thanks,
Mahtman

It sounds to me like you should just shoot for TI next year. Sounds like a great time to me, I'd love to go.

Don't forget Montana de Oro park about ten minutes from Morro Bay. It's spectacular for the rock formations alone and it's free. My favorite place.

Yes, you are right. Walking trails with cliff views and February brings Whale watching season.
You found yourself somewhat of a secret beauty.  Grin

Most definitely....especially with breath taking views of the Pacific Ocean all while basking in the warm California sun.  Cool wasn't that a song?   Huh  Grin  Grin Speaking of sun I'm off to pull more weeds that grow way to fast and tall in this weather.
