One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.

I don't think that's a Frank Schweimann Pyro. It looks more like a Gomberg Giant Ghost to me.

So here's what I learned: Even in wind strong enough to rustle her hair like that, you've got to run as fast as you can to fly a modern kite. And it's best to fly it on a 1"D hawser cable!

Actually, it's an HQ Kites OKD (open keel delta).  Chris Schultz told me.

So it's not a Pyro then?

BTW what is the difference between the Frank Schwiemann pyro ghost delta, and the one licensed to Gomberg kites?  Looks like you can pick up a 7' wide with 11' tail for $75 and an 11' wide with 30' tail for $150.  The original design is the 7'er no?  Besides being made by the man himself and perhaps having a signature or something, is there a significant quality or design difference between an original and the licensed version?  Can you even still get an original?  I assume the price is around double as well.

There are a couple differences between the kite in the commercial and the Gomberg Ghost.  The one in the commercial does look like an open keel Delta.  Gomberg's Ghost delta does not have the open keel.  Another difference is the tails, Gomberg's Ghost has the two tails coming together (touching) in the center of the trailing edge of the kite, the one in the commercial has a gap between the two tails.

As far as build quality, materials and the way it flies?  Well I would doubt there would be much difference between the two.  The open keel design is a bit more intriguing though - whether it is really needed or not would probably be up to the flyer of the kite and personal opinion.

Unless I am wrong....  Lips sealed

AND!!!  the wind blowing her hair is in the opposite direction to the flight of the kite... must be a dream!

You Guys watch way to much &%#* on the tv and computor. This is advertising, the bane of society and the tool of the demonic PTB (powers that be). Go outside and fly a kite! Don't watch this &%#* as even as a exercise in what is bad. It will encourage the PTB and even strong people can be corrupted and eventually there brain will attropy and they will end up on the dark side. Bit mad, bit strong, not on  your nellie, don't watch it will get you!

The Frank Schiemann Pyro's were hand made 1 at a time by Frank in Germany. Best single line kite purchase I have ever made. Cool

The licensed version made in China was slightly less than 1/2 price.

Sorry to chime in late on this conversation.

Our Ghosts have been through several subtle changes over time. See below.

All I can tell you is that we sent the film production company a kite.
