Duke Kahanamoku,
This bloke is a legendary hawaiian waterman that introduced surfing to the pacific rim.
The suburb in i grew up in has a monument to this.
I take it that anyone who surfs or is surf orientated owes a little homage to this man?
He didnt come up with the idea of Surfing he just took  it everywhere he went and the people loved this. He actually made a hardwood surfboard in Sydney while he was there in 1914-15 and that suburb now is the worlds most innovative and biggest producer of boards and has been since the late 70s and since California changed its pollution laws it has become even bigger,(outside of china),minus a few surfboards that arrived with the fins on the wrong end of the boards(urr..upsidedown bridles).
Which leads me to,KITES
He didnt invent it.
He introduced it to millions.
That kite was a household name over here when i was a kid.
Should we not have a statue for this legend?
Is there a statue of him?
Or will he finally get his recognition in another fifty years?
I know i owe him greatly!
What about you,do you feel his LEGACY?
Should a cheap business suit be proper flying attire?
What can we do for the future of this, the greatest sport on earth...if we dont recognize or at least acknowledge our sports great innovators,be it humble or proud for profit or just a love of everything kites?
PS:His Kites should be pulling a lot more dough than they do on  -bay!
                                                             ???
