I have a question I fave a 6 foot flexifoil that I am not sure of how old it is. The tag on it says original Flexifoil Power kite made by Flexifoil international Newmarket England  Patents Granted worldwide  Merry and Jones 1982...Anyone have any idea how old this kite may be?

There should be two patches on the belly - one at each front leading edge corner where the lines lashed to the rod......
There might be a black ink date code there..

If I remember correctly, didn't Ray Merry start making the original Flexi's back in the 70's in the U.K.?
That kite could be 30+ years old.

Yeah, sounds like an early one.  I don't know of any easy way to date them specifically.  A pic may help.  Is it a solid color or banded?  I have a few where the tag has later dates like 88, 92, etc. and assume those are later models.

I have a pic but dont know how to upload it. There is only one tag on the belly of the kite it is white and says about the same thing as the tag on the storage sack says the same thing accept that the under side says made by flexifoil international po box 60 newmarket england.  The kite is one solid color (blue) i think this might be a stacker

Ah....much newer than i had thought....this is probably a late 90s Flexi.....chikara not carrington...also the branding on the LE mesh was a later thing if i remember correctly...

Yeah I agree, very early ones would not have any branding over the mesh.  Probably 90s like Rob said.  I've also seen some of the later ones with black reinforcement material at the ends.

If it's ~6 ft. it's a Stacker.  Are the spars dark or light?

The Stacker does have just the 2 fiberglass spars, larger sizes had a carbon center with 2 fg spars to make up the length.  I was mainly just curious about the color. Wink  It seems the earlier flexi's had lighter colored fiberglass spars, but I've seen quite a range of colors from white to very light lime green to dark blue to black.  Not sure if it really has much to do with age or just what was available at the time.
