One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.
There are several more benefits to being a registered user, but you'll have to join our little community to find out all the "secrets".

One can be both a collector and a flier.

All of my kites get flown. Although with a large

number of kites, some may rest for a long time

before coming out to play. Fortunately, they

seem to fly better with age.  Smiley

Ara, Nice growing kite collection.

You soon will need a second kite bag.

You really need a Vapor and a Prophecy to have a proper collection. Every kite collector nut has at least one of each.

I remember the Fermins (dad & daughter) at the 2002 Nationals, flying Prophecies.

On cue to the music (of course) and in fairly high wind they did opposite sides of the

window 540s. This was when pairs and teams basically flew formations.

All of us gasped a little (really).

A 540 on a Proph is big, slow, flat and beautiful.

Think I'll have to go dust mine off. Getting near the 4th of July.

Just wait until you have so many kites you can't remember which ones you have flown!  Currently in my bag that are yet to be fown are a couple of P2s, and my r-sky toxic.  the list was larger a couple of weeks ago, but I forced myself to launch a couple of standard kites regardless of the SUL type wind that was available.

The other thing that happens, to me anyway, is that as I attempt to photo document my collection, I discover kites I didn't know I had... an extra Prism Micron, Nexus and Jazz were discovered with an old HQ symphony 2.5 and a little SLK sled that must be the result of kite prolification as I have no recollection of purchasing it or receiving it as a gift.

When you start to realize your kite inventory has grown with no recollection of how... that's surely a sweet addiction to kites that no intervention group can help you with!   Wink

Photo inventory is much easier to keep.

I started with an Excel spreadsheet with way too much info:
Kite, price paid, date, purchasee, blah, blah, blah.
Data for the sake of data.
A picture is worth way more than 1000 words.

That is the best prophecy ever.

Thanks for leaving it for me in your will ;-)

Hah, I thought I was the only one who did the spreadsheet thing.  Wink

I agree, it does get tedious to keep the spreadsheet updated.  I find that I forget to keep up on it and then have to think back on what I bought/sold over several months.

Photo documentation is a good idea, but some of the power foils and arcs I have are pretty huge.. would definitely need to have someone else shoot a pic of them while in flight.

The photo inventory is also good as proof for insurance, just in case.

Yes, I checked. Kite are covered while many collections, specifically named, are not.
