One of the most popular sections of the GWTW Forum has long been the Swap Meet.  A great place to sell old, seldom flown kites or to get great deals on used (gently flown) kites.  Only registered users can see the Swap Meet section, let alone wheel and deal.  1000's (literally) of kites have changed hands thanks to the Swap Meet.

Welcome to the Forum.

If you don't really "crash" your kites. You might consider

an SUL instead of a UL. Many of the trickier SULs are

really ULs, they're just not advertised correctly in my opinion.

You might consider an Aura at 4 ounces for those (no wind)

days you spoke of. Or perhaps a ProDancer, larger, true SUL

but no real tricks except when flown by people much better than

myself.

The Silver Fox UL is a bit on the heavy side for what you want.

I have a WM UL and really like it, but it is not a no wind kite.

Something like a Benson Inner Space could also be considered,

although more expensive.

Fly before you buy whenever possible.  Smiley

Hey Frontosa,  SInce you get to berkeley where are you from?  There is a bunch of us that fly in ripon at Mistlin park the 2nd sunday of every month.  Come join us and try out some stuff before you decide what you want.  There isn't much someone in the group doesn't have in the bag, just depends on who shows up Smiley.

Another couple choices to consider is the HQ Shadow, a very nice SUL and probably one of the best deals for the money and the other is the Skyburner Ocius SUL which is available for purchase from most kite shops and is super tricky.  The Ocius SUL is similar to the Aura in weight but the Aura is not yet available (AFIK).

I had fun with My 4D for about an hour.................. It is in someone elses bag now. Tpatter (tom) got more enjoyment out of his but I found them twitchy and a little unpredictable if not impracticable lol.
The Shadow is a kite I liked but sold and wish now i hadn't one of few. If you like Prism ,the other kite I sold and miss is the Quantum Pro SUL A little old skool but does a lot of the more modern tricks but also VERY graceful

Try before you buy it the way to go.

Well worth the trip to Ripon.

All these kite are well made but each has its own personality. Easy to understand the differences and what kites work for you when you fly them.

All I will say is dont scrimp if you want a low kite count. Spend money once, an you will be happier...

As for UL's, there are many. Ask youself what you want to do, fly precision, or freestyle tricks?
